Growing Up with Indiana

Daddy’s Humor

About 2am this morning Indy came padding down the hall. We’ve asked her not to wake us up if she gets up early – and while she obeys, her little footsteps wake me up anyway. I heard her sit down next to the doorway. She waited for about 5 minutes, then she got up and laid down in the hallway. After a few minutes I grabbed my pillow and took her to the living room and laid down with her on the couch. Less than a minute later she was out and I was wide awake. I decided to leave her and sneak off back to bed. I left her with my pillow and a comfy blanket.

In the actual daylight morning, Mike went out to wake her up and she pointed down to the pillow and said, “how did that happen?!” (Her pillow case is blue and mine is white). Before Mike could respond she added, deadpan, “I didn’t do it.” Then, keeping her best daddy routine up said, “speaking of pillows, who wants some breakfast?”

Sleepy Saturday

Just a local park and a salad for lunch. Easy breezy and relaxed.

Hair Stylist

Indy likes to be the hair stylist. She has been practicing her braids and putting in barrettes on mommy and daddy.

Tractors!

while visiting grandma and grandpa, we took a ride into town to visit the tractor store. Indy found one in her size.

International Fair

Indys room featured Egypt at her school’s International Fair. They told us fun facts, did a dance (walk like an Egyptian anyone?), share fun and interesting facts and even made Egyptian food and crafts! It was impressive and cuteness overload to watch her and her classmates tell us about the “mommy cases”

Bike Riding Bust

We thought a weekend bike ride along the beach front sounded perfect. We had gone before and much fun was had by all. Not this time! We strayed from home and decided to try South Bay for some new sights and smells. It was gorgeous for the first three minutes, then we were diverted to the streets that ran parallel to the beach, giving us no views except for orange cones, construction zones and office buildings. Not only was it boring visually, it was pretty stressful negotiating where we could actually pedal safely. Indy was miserable and was pretty vocal about it, not even the kitty helmet made it bearable.

Next time: we stay in Santa Monica and skip the bike ride altogether.
