April
Raccoon
We recently adopted a caterpillar that will become a monarch butterfly. The day after we got him home, he hung upside down for 24 hours and then went into his pupa state in a cocoon.
Thanksgiving for Deers
Grandma and Grandpa Bigby make sure the deer get enough to eat in the California drought.
Observations from Indy
While looking at pictures of BBQ grills in a picture book tonight, Indy said, “My mommy has a grill, it’s called an oven”
Raccoon
We recently adopted a caterpillar that will become monarch butterfly. The day after we bright him home he hung upside down and went into his pupa state as a cocoon. Everyday, a few times a day, we have to check on him and make sure he’s doing well. So far, so good.
The cocoon (or raccoon as Indy calls it) looks like a jade with gold painting on it. Apparently, the ornamentation is to make them not look like food. We have named him Fred and will find out once he’s a butterfly if he’s actually Fred or Frida.
West Side!
After finishing a particularly tasty meal, Indy flashed me some gang signs.
Or, maybe it was to say she was all done.
Hiking
Half-way into the hike Indy asked “where’s the park?” (With swings and slides).
We came home with many pieces of nature in our car.
