Growing Up with Indiana

Raccoon

on May 4, 2014

We recently adopted a caterpillar that will become monarch butterfly. The day after we bright him home he hung upside down and went into his pupa state as a cocoon. Everyday, a few times a day, we have to check on him and make sure he’s doing well. So far, so good.

The cocoon (or raccoon as Indy calls it) looks like a jade with gold painting on it. Apparently, the ornamentation is to make them not look like food. We have named him Fred and will find out once he’s a butterfly if he’s actually Fred or Frida.
